Knapweed

Knapweed blooms from June through September. The flowers are 1" wide, feathery, lavender in color, and sit atop scale-like bracts. The plant has slender leaves that are either toothed or lobed.

Knapweed grows in fields and disturbed areas. It is native to Europe, and highly invasive in North America.
