Water Boatmen

Members of the Corxia genus are often called water boatmen. They are around 1/2" long and brown to black in color. They have an oval body and paddle-like hind legs.

Water boatmen live in ponds and slow streams, laying their eggs on aquatic vegetation. They eat algae and decaying plant matter.
