Conservation Status
Identifying Features
The dusky arion is between 2-3" long and an orange to yellow brown color.
Habitat & Range
They are found around human habitations such as gardens and other wet areas including forests. In North America they are non-native and invase. They are native to Europe.
Behavior
Dusky arions eat fungi, plants, algae, and carrion.
Life Cycle
These slugs lay up to 50 eggs at a time. The eggs are 2 1/4 mm by 2 1/4 - 3 1/4 mm. Their eggs are often eaten by beetle larvae and red-backed salamanders. Their life span is between about a year and a half in the wild.
