Conservation Status

Identifying Features

Northern mockingbirds are 10" long with a 14" wingspan. They are gray with a paler gray breast and dark wings. Their beak is slender.

Habitat & Range

Northern mockingbirds live in shrubby fields across the United States, Mexico, and Cuba.


These birds get their name from their ability to mimic other birds and sounds.

Mockingbirds feed on insects and fruit.
