Identifying Features

Multiflora rose is a shrub with smooth red-gray bark and long, arching, dense, throny branches.

Habitat & Range

Native to parts of Asia, this rose was introduced to North America as an ornamental. Here it has become invasive, and crowds out native species.

Life Cycle

In June and July this plant produces white to pink flowers with 5 petals.

The fruit is a red rose hip. They are leathery and last throughout the winter.
