Conservation Status

Identifying Features

The nursery web spider is 1/2" long and have a yellow-brown color. Their body has a band of darker color down the middle of the back.

Habitat & Range

They are found in fields, forests, and tall grasses through the Eastern and Midwestern US.

Behavior

These spiders do not build webs to trap their prey and instead hunt insects as they travel.

Life Cycle

The nursery web spider carries its egg sac around by its mouth. When the eggs are about to hatch, they build a tent-like nursery with its silk.
