Identifying Features
The gray urn fungus is a dark brown to black urn shaped fungus. They are 3-4" tall and tough.
Habitat & Range
They are found on dead hardwoods and are often buried under leaf litter.
Life Cycle
When they are young they are a closed urn shape, and they open as they age.
They are saprophytic.
