Identifying Features
Red trillium plants produce a single 2.5" flower, nodding on a slender stalk. The flower has three maroon petals and is ill-scented.
Each plant has three large, diamond-shaped leaves, and grows to a height of 12".
Habitat & Range
Red trilliums are found in the forest in the eastern United States and southeastern Canada.
Life Cycle
The flowers bloom from April to June. The foul scent of the blooms attract flies which pollinate the plants.
The plant is an herbaceous perennial.
